Cricket Canyon Ranch
Cricket Canyon is a private family ranch nestled in the beautiful foothills of the Santa Ynez Valley. The ranch is not an open to the public for accommodations. CCR is an everyday real working ranch with, animals to care for, training, and a full schedule of never-ending ranch chores. It is this fact that makes Cricket Canyon an authentic western delight.
The ranch is named in memory of Jacqueline “Cricket” Embley-Kron, our daughter, an energetic, beautiful and vibrant young lady who inspired all who met her. We believe Cricket Canyon reflects her warmth and gentle nature, and it is our intent to hold this ranch to the highest standard for that very reason.
The ranch is surrounded by thousands of majestic red and white oak trees, some dating back hundreds of years, before the Spanish Missions and Santa Barbara Presidio.
This very special ranch inspires all who visit with a sense of serenity as it posses a mystical quality that seems to transcend reality. It’s amazing what four thousand oak trees can do to one spirit.
This is the Santa Ynez experience at its very best!
From hilltop vistas, the surreal Figueroa and Santa Barbara Mountains rise up from the valley floor and greet you with an awe inspiring panoramic views for your morning walk. In the evening, the hilltop provides the perfect spot for star gazers, as the darkened valley is the perfect location to watch the heavens.
In contrast the ranch also provides the serenity of the oak meadows where you can picnic under huge oak limbs that seem to embrace you.
Each spring thousands of native birds migrate to the ranch and the lush oak canyons providing a chorus of songs throughout the day. We have a wide assortment of wildlife including; deer, bobcat, grey squirrels, coyotes, red fox, raccoons, owls, golden eagles, bald eagles, hawks, and falcons, all call the ranch home during different seasons.
Miles and miles of hiking, riding, cycling trail all seem to connect right from the ranch entrance. The horse barn is a favorite hangout for the western pleasure, with its 200 foot riding arena.
The ranch hosts special ladies only retreats along with special events and western style weddings. The ranch is also a favorite of the film and commercial photographers who find the ranch and its location very desirable.
